When I open my planner I want the first page to jump out at me and make me very happy. It is the page I will see most and can be a space to put the affirmation I most want to concentrate on that month.
This was just two pieces of scrapbook paper glue-sticked together, with washi tape to reinforce the edges. I punched the holes with a single punch, but miss carol has bought the one that does them all at the same time, so when we get it I'll use that.
Tabs are important because they separate your categories from each other. Even if you do no other decorating in your book, having highly decorated category pages will make it fun to work in your book. Think of titles that are not the usual. I am using "Blessed" for my bookkeeping area to remind myself that I am lucky to be able to pay the bills I have. I can always wish I had more in life, but deep down I am grateful for everything just as it is. This gentle reminder will help me feel more grateful then aggrivated when I have to do mundane things like taxes. The Dream section is for thinking up and organizing future projects. And food is for menu planning and recipes. I am making the papers and decorations as pretty as possible to convince my inner 10 year old it will be fun to take care of grown up stuff. Might sound ridiculous but it takes what it takes.
This is how I am setting up my daily pages, and I did one month. Stickers and stamps done ahead so that each day I am not starting of with a blank, corporate, page. My plan is to put to-do lists on pretty post it notes on their day, then underneath them I can document my day. I will show you that as I do it. I think this is a great way to not only plan my life, but to record it.
I coverd a clear plastic box with washi tape for a place to put handmade notecards into.
I will make tutorial of notecards. I love the handmade look, especially when it is really handmade. Even if you take one hour of the week to pre-make cards, they will make your planner/journal more authentic. Mixing store bought with diy is the way to go.
